I agree that people who are unfamiliar with VLVE are at a bit of an advantage with New Noise. I'm enjoying the new album but can't shake the feeling that I've already heard this "new" PWEI album. Also, and I'm sure it will fade over time, I can't help compare the tracks to previous versions I've heard. I think, for the most part, all the New Noise tracks are superior to the VLVE versions but I find myself thinking if maybe they'd left this one part in or done this differently instead of just enjoying the new songs. Oh well, good album.

What Mike said. Whenever I listen to New Noise and get to the end of Mask I expect Demon to come next, quite weird. And yep, I can't help comparing the tracks to their Vile Evils versions either....

Okay, I only listened to a bit of VLVE and haven't heard Sonic Noise Byte. I love the new album. Yes, it's not as good as their best material. It might even rank as their lowest, but it's still a good album. I prefer the new mixes to the old ones, and I'm glad they dropped the faux-DNB stuff. "Seek and Destroy" is the best track - I'm surprised nobody mentions it because it sounds like it came from the CFS/This is This era with a more modern back up. Other favorites are "Chaos and Mayhem" (I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me), "Nosebleeder Turbo TV" and "Equal Zero".

I hope the next albumw will be completely new material. I mean, I guess I wouldn't mind if he released another collection of re-recorded Vile Evils track, but I'd prefer them as B-Sides. Some of that stuff is good enough to be polished and re-recorded but, well, we're all waiting for new material.

I'm glad most people seem to really be in to Equal Zero. It's just that to me Retro Dreaming was the stand-out obvious return hit single for 6 years now. I'm just still morning its loss and haven't been able to fully appreciate Equal Zero because of it.
