VMNP REMIX. Holy Grail Type Sh*t

Yeah, that doesn't make a lot of sense. I can't imagine they'd do a run only to chuck them away either. I remember reading somewhere that the band weren't into the remixes and decided to pull it, that would sound a bit more plausible.

I remember Ohm saying that Clint "thought" he had the only copy of it & upon further investigation found that it was actually just a copy of the regular VMNP EP, NOT the remix one.

It was therefore deduced that there were none ever pressed (after-all, if the band never even got a copy, nor knew of its existance), then surely it doesn't exist.
They then weren't even convinced that the remixes were even ever finished / submitted (Danny Hyde couldn't even remember finishing it, let alone submitting it to the band).

The tracks eventually turned up on one of the multitude of "tapes" that Ohm ended up having to sort through, & thus their inclusion on the reissue of "This Is The Day..." is a real coup for us die-hard collectors.

The only 2 tracks from the planned release that never saw light of day were the PWEIzation (12" Mix) & 92'F(Danny Hyde remix), so it'll be nice to hear them on this forthcoming reissue.

As for record companies pressing stuff & destroying them after they decide to pull the release... I have worked in the biz for 20+ years & can certainly vouch for the fact that that shit happens more than you would imagine.
Which is what makes me doubt that the VMNP Remix EP ever even got to the pressing stage (as surely ONE of the band would have at least got a copy of it before it was destroyed).

As for it's appearance in Record Collector... I have bought plenty of stuff over the years that is supposed to be one thing & is something entirely different - a 10" white label test pressing of Wise Up! Sucker (that I never knew existed) that I paid 15 quid for about 10 years ago turned up & was actually a 12" white label of Wise Up! instead. (which I had already anyway!)

What UF said really. The band don't seem to think it was ever pressed, and didn't even think the mixes were finished until we dug them out. Also, Adam has a pretty thorough collection of just about everything PWEI and it's not included in that. However, rock stars have been known to forget their own mother's name so I'd love to think that a copy, at least a TP, will turn up one day! They're great mixes too, looking forward to people hearing them. The 92F mix pushes the art of the uncleared sample to it's limit. Possibly why it wasn't issued I suppose..

A friend of mine who just happened to be involved with releasing some previously unreleased Coil remixes of NIN songs this month mentioned that while he was talking to Danny Hyde on the phone he mentioned that from time to time PWEI fans bug him about a rare remix he did and that he has it on tape somewhere in a shed. Maybe this will show up some day then...

Sorry Danny! He parted with a DDMA promo tape but it had no unreleased stuff on. He sent me a jpeg of some other promos he used to have. One of them was an alternate promo of DDMA with the track 'Kick To Kill (Master Recall) listed on it. He reckoned he had thrown them all out a couple of years ago! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

The remixes turned up and are on the CR re-issue CD now!
