I've seen a lot of CDRs floating around eBay lately, I don't have a lot of interest. I was bidding on a Devin Townsend ep CDR, 2 weeks ago it was selling in limited numbers on his website for $14 and it went for over $100 in auction. Does this mean it's valuable? I guess so. But really, you can purchase a download from half a dozen other websites, so it's not impossible to track down. Besides that, CDRs have a 2-3 shelf life before they start delaminating. The one great thing about 12" test pressings is that they keep for decades with little to know decomposition.

I was listening to Alan Cross the other day and he was going on about the new era of collectors. It makes sense, a few years from now the hard medium will be extinct and people are going to start collecting digital files as if they were a press kit. I have no doubt that CDs & LPs will be around for a long time, but those radio copies are soon going to be emails with attachments.

Thing with collectors is they will bid silly money just to have something a couple of weeks before it comes out. I'd love a copy but i'd probably go to £20 max, as soon as the album's out you should pick a copy up for a tenner or so. Also depends on how many promo copies they had made & sent out... if it's a low nimber people will pay more for it.
CAN YOU DIG IT?

I can understand the value of a promo if there is differences such as different mixes and so on (and yes I DO own multiple copies of Poppies releases in different formats just for the artwork or because I enjoy vinyl better) but in this case, there is plenty of other things going on that I can wait 2 weeks and pay a hell of a lot less. Its not long go go now, cahps, weeeee!

I set my bar at 30 quid - rather glad it did not go for 50p more cause that would have pissed me off. Had I been wearing my big pants and watched it, bidding to the end it may well have pushed the price up even higher.

I can wait a few weeks, it may even surface online before release so I will keep checking the usual sites. Re-issues next Monday so they should keep things ticking over until the main event.

Well, I want these promos as a collector...but I wouldn't pay £30 for one. They will likely be cheap to pick up after the LP is out. As for CD-R degrading - I have some Clint CD-R going back to late 90's earyl 00's and they are fine. I just copy them and tuck them away, play the copy.

Here is artwork for C&M promo single. I get the impression the single is for radio play / promotion only to push the LP. No info with the disk about the single release - just the LP.

Nice, I think I like that cover better than the LP's.
