I had no issue ripping both discs with iTunes. It could be the brand of CD/DVD player that is installed on the computer. The only thing I did notice was that both discs ripped very slowly, so I imagine the laser was working overtime. For encrypted discs I generally use DBpoweramp, it seems to do the trick.

FYI, no one torrent this. Let the boys and girls at Cherry Red Records make a bit of scratch off this baby, it's been a long time coming.

My laptop is generally a tank for ripping EVERYTHING... it's old, I barely use it, but I keep it for this purpose...

Oddly - third reboot and it ripped. Weird.

That being said - it meant my first run-through was on an old CD player - how apropos for a 1996 album LOL.

Lately I've been hitting up the thrift shops for CDs, as they are only about $1 each and EVERYONE is dumping them. Gone are the days of shifting through the bins only to find wave upon wave of forgotten pop music, recently I've been digging up gems. I found the first 3 Jesus Lizard albums, a few Cop Shoot Cop discs, and the Morphine catalog. Not too shabby.

Not to mention, PC games are getting uploaded by the truck as well and lumped in the same bins. Earlier this week I finally grinded through the original Dungeon Siege which cost me $1.

...Ok, enough geeking out.

Anyways, I'm not against CDs. Sure they take up space, and once you rip them they are pretty much coasters. But I'd rather pay $10 for a CD than $10 for an iTunes album with 256kbs MP3s.

For the record - since this was kinda in response to my "woah" about my CD player - I don't dislike CDs... I just normally listen to them through my computer, which is connected to the same Amp - same sound quality... so I rarely use my CD Player...

That being said, I'm in the vinyl boat. If I can avoid it, I don't buy CDs - vinyl only... I listen to so much music on my iPod now, that when I'm not listening to "digital" music - I like the experience to change, and vinyl does just that...

My 2c, though, I'm certainly not a pedant about format.
