The Jam was the first band I saw at Malvern Winter Gardens about 1983 and only cost £3.50 still have the ticket, and as Adam says, awesome band. Not as good as the Poppies in my view.

I saw the Jam a couple of times but was never that keen

A local coach company used to do trips to see bands at big venues so my younger sisters boyfriend took her to see the Jam in Portsmouth. In those days Reading and Portsmouth had a bit of football rivalry so when a coach from Reading turned up in Portsmouth all the windows were put in. so, one of their first dates was spent cowering on the floor of the coach being showered in glass and missiles and later on travelling back home in a newly rendered open topped bus
