Pop Will Eat Itself last week became the first band ever to appear on 'Top Of The Pops' without a recording contract. The band were dropped by RCA last month after a series of disputes over their future plans, and their current hit, "Get The Girl! Kill The Baddies!", is to be their last for the company. Ironically, however, it has become the Poppies' biggest hit to date, entering the Gallup charts at Number Nine! Singer Clint Mansell commented this week: 'I'm completely chuffed at leaving the label. No one liked us there, and we didn't like them." The band's management are now negotiating a new deal with several different labels.
