PWEI / Designers Republic / RCA etc always seemed to be rather liberal with their "mistakes" on artwork, track names & times etc.
I could list a good 10 or so off the top of my head that I have picked up over the years...
Get The Girl "Sherwood 7 Inch" & "Sherwood Magnificent Seven" are one & the same...
Can U Dig It? "Acid" & "Acid/Riffs" mix is the same...
Even on the "16 Different Flavours Of Hell" CD the tracklist said 92 F was the "Birth, The Death, The Romance" mix & it was actually the "Birth The Death" mix...

& don't even get me started on track times etc!

But I guess that just makes the whole collecting thing a little more interesting - or frustrating... whichever way you look at it!

I've recently taken the lead of djing with some new gear that reads flash drives and tested some of the soundforge MP3 settings vs wav...not much in it. From an DJing point of view if you played a set and played a vinyl 45, a vinyl LP track, a CD track and a 320 mp3 in a row, you would notice all kinds of differences. If you play a set 100% from the same format...no probs...I was wary of mp3's even at the highest quality but they work fine.

As for audiophiles...I found a thread on burning high quality CD's and it was insane. Some people tried the most lossless way possible and the disks sounded flat and lifeless. Then when they copied the disks using cheap gear, the disks sounded better due to minute 'errors' as the human ear does not seem to like perfection.

I thought MP3s were lossy cos they used a cut off (Nyquist??) frequency above the range of human hearing -25000?? HZ. Wav's sample at 44,000 HZ so you can hear up to 22,000. Something like that. The sample rate is twice the rate that can be detected i.e. you need two sample points to pick-up a sine wave.

I could be talking crap.
