G'day all, yep there seem to be a handful of CFS Disc 2s out there with the same issue, very odd. I haven't encountered one myself yet... but either drop whoever you bought it from or us a line and I'm sure the replacement will be fine.

Mine arrived today & I had the same problem but only on the last TWO tracks. They wouldn't rip & wouldn't play on my boombox but funnily they played fine on my Denon Micro System. So I suppose it depends on the quality of the stereo system also cause my micro system is a good one & fairly new but the boombox is old. Think I won't bother sending it back because I also eventually managed to get the tracks ripped by persistently trying over & over again.

So, my first copy arrived from Amazon. The last track on CD 2 wouldn't play. Returned and replaced by Amazon very quickly - well done Amazon. Second copy kind of plays the last track but it is as distorted as hell. Returned that one. Think I confused Amazon as they have just refunded me.

So, I ordered it again, direct from Cherry Red today. So, shenanigans aside, the music.

Rock Of Ages - hell yeah! Wish that had been on the original release. Also loving the remixes of Dance of The Mad n' Bad. Absolutely fantastic.

STILL irate that Korda wouldn't let them make a video for it.

Anyone know what the singalong chorus Adam mentions was? Is it part of the remixes? If not, is it available anywhere else in demo form?

Great to hear the Cicciolina remixes again and the Incredi-BULL mix sounds better than ever. In fact the whole thing sounds so much better than before. Good job, cleaning up the audio.

As much as I love the sleeve notes, the completist nerd in me really does miss the lyrics. Thank God I still have my old copy for reference, eh?

Sample recognition klaxon!

Lived in Splendour: Died In chaos, about 15 seconds in, just after the beats start, there is some atmospheric slide guitar. It's from 'Too Hot To Move, Too Hot To Think' opening track from The Triffids final album, The Black Swan.

There's a case to be made that CFS and The Black Swan have other commonalities, in that this final album by The Triffids saw them exploring programmed beats, dance music, rap (stylistically, if not actually rapping) alongside their more traditional, literate song based fare.

Not saying that they have much content in common, but a certain adventurousness of spirit and willingness to try out all sorts of sounds.

What I was hoping to find out was the origin of the unreleased tracks. For instance, why was there a need to have an alternate version of Dance of the Mad with new vox? Why was Rock of Ages not included as is on the original album. I am very much curious as to story behind those tracks. Same as the un-released tracks from Looks or the Lifestyle.

Anyone know the origins for these tracks and why they remained un-released? They are top notch.......finally expanded cd's where the bonus material is actually worth listening to and equal to the tracks that appeared on the original albums!
