Agreed, I don't think either New Noise or ALOTOCB truly sound like what I know as PWEI. You can hear which components of the music have been separated and independently developed as something different.

I'd place both albums on an even footing incidentally, Gra definitely has an ear for catchy samples, odd composition and production, while Clint sticks to more classically conventional songwriting, though he has the bonus of having the rest of the original Poppies on this recording bringing their usual oddness to the table.

Talent Plus Attitude Equals Dollars is basically the same subject matter as Old Skool with more swearing.

Mentioned this in my review of the LP, and Bronxzoo was the first to say it, but reckon if you took the following set of tunes and mixed them up with a bit of polishing & line-up cross pollination you'd have a work of near perfection:

From This is This onwards (and even parts of Box Frenzy.) there is a distinctive sound to the samples and keys and a proto-breakbeat drum-machine style which remained consistent through to Dos Dedos even though the production changed slightly on each album.

I might just be kidding myself on, but from a mixture of Bentley Rhythm Ace, Golden Claw Musics, Vile Evils, Clint's solo forays and (what is now) the last two albums I think I have a reasonably good idea of what the majority of the band brought to the sound.
