Without this turning into a discussion of creative copyrights (there are a few designers/artists here - so I'm sure we all have our own experiences)...
Copyright for a created work is retained by the artist - unless done as work for hire under the direction of a client. Work I do while on shift at my day-job is owned by that company - what they do with it is their choice. When I was doing agency work, we would create things for clients - and it would vary contract-to-contract.
It's hard to say with a font - if they built the font because they thought it would look good, and then used it, they could continue using it (and licensing it) - if your logo is in Helvetica, you never own the font - but you own a treatment of the type as a logo (how it's been tweaked, kerned etc in special ways to look good AS a logo). It's a murky area, as implied by others.
I agree - new PWEI merch made here - not ideal. My comment about the skull/gas-mask was more a "Cherry-Red-directed" point LOL - would love them to produce something like that... but, yeah, with an active PWEI - I think we leave the creation of new merch to them. It's "their" brand (Graham's I assume) and they'll do what they see as best for their identity... and shirts for an album the current incarnation had nothing to do with are probably not high on anyone's list.
