Rockahula Baby Versions

Postby payback3000 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 9:47 am

Hi all,

Can any one confirm that the version from the NME 'Last Temptation OF Elvis' LP / CD release is the same as the one issued on the Dance Of The Mad remix 12"?

What I mean is - apart from the unearthed dub mix, there is only 1 x version of Rockahula Baby? Yes?

Thanks!

Just looking over the B - Sides, Remixes & Rarities 1 / 2 and making sure nothing has been overlooked. I have realised the fade version of Preaching To The Perverted from the VMNP EP is really a different version to the LP version if you are splitting hairs, which we are.

So maybe another revised edition of Vol 1.? I'm also working through the artworks to make the mix and version titles more 'canon' which is a nightmare. I have a proof reader now kids! Mix titles ect are anightmare as even the label and sleeve listings on one release can differ!

I fudged the titles here and there to make the listing on the bakc more conssitant, however if a rework looks OK I might add these changes to the corrected artworks (There were many mistakes on the inner sleeves!)

All good fun.

UF has whizzed me an mp3 of the NME version. It is deffo longer than the CR re-issue version and by the sounds of it longer than the 12" version. It sort of turns into the dub mix at the end for a bit...actually thinking about it maybe the version on the promo cassette I have is this version. I will need to check.

I will sort this tonight...if it is unique then it will be going on another re- worked Vol 2...

Oh no.

According to the booklet with the last temptation of elvis the Rock-a-hula-baby is 4.36 long. Produced by Youth and engineered by Robin Evans at Maison Rouge, London. In the cd player it times 4.34. I can email a windows media file rip if anyone wants. The cherry red cfs version times at 3.32 in the cd player. The booklet says the source is the ltoe and dotm 12". Can't find the 12" at the moment. I'll have a look tomorrow

I just played my 12" of DOTM through & it timed in at 3:48 (maybe plays a little slower on my turntable as the CD version on CFS is around 3:32).
I also have the Last Temptation on CD & LP and they both play the longer / full length version at 4:36
point blank, zero return...

Yep,

Cheers all. I've ordered the CD with this version on for inclusion in the revised edition.

Now, I know we have weeded out a few things - like the M&K mix of Hit The Hi Tec Groove just being the LP version - but does anyone know of any other oddities we have missed along with this? Any mixes or edits on compilations that are different to currently in print ones?

I have an old K-Tel comp LP with a unique mix of KLF's Last Train To Trancentral so these things do happen.

Anything?
