Cure For Sanity: Different versions?

Am I imagining things or were there two different versions of The Pop Will Eat Itself Cure For Sanity?

I lived in France when it came out and I remember Dance of the Mad Bastards starting right away, blended into "Moral Majority". Also a different mix of X, Y and Zee and 92 degrees F.

Was that the original English CD? I think when I got it later I was back in America and now "Dance of the Mad Bastards" had a longer intro before the rapping began, X, Y and Zee had a groovier piano intro and 92 F had the guys singing on it rather than the lady.

What happened there?

and which version is the upcoming reissue?

Thanks!

Your not going mad, there was 2 versions. They reissued it with X Y & Z and 92 Degrees remixes on and the original versions on the end of the album. The new 2011 reissue is a new version with loads of b-sides and bonus tracks on, It's also been remastered with new artwork and booklet notes from Adam Mole.

The album itself will go back to it's original form though (thankfully!)

The first copy of CFS I had was a tape one that had the 7" Dance of the Mad... & the remixes in the wrong place. So glad when I picked up an original vinyl copy with the track order correct, having the Electric Sunshine Stylee remix of X, Y & Zee chucked in ruins the flow of the LP, especially as the original mixes straight into City Zen.

Happy that the remaster is the correct running order too, means my well loved chunk of vinyl can go into semi-retirement, it's getting very hissy around 1000xNo!

That's awesome, I'm glad the running order is back to normal.

I loved the way "Dance of the Mad Bastards" started and the way X, Y and Zee flowed. I love the Electric Sunshine Mix but definitely prefer the remixes at the end.

thanks!

My first copy of 'Cure..' was on cassette (remember them?) and when I upgraded to CD I got the version with the extra tracks. It never, ever sounded right to my ears.

The two versions had slightly different colouring to sleeves too.

The original release was much lighter/less saturated, and the title text was really blurry/overbled (looked like a printing error).

I wonder if in light of what others said about the mastering being rushed (one side being cut before the other was even ready), was the printing of the artwork rushed through too, and they fixed it to how it should've been with the second re-ordered version?

@OHM - which sleeve is being used for the new re-issue?

No,

The UK issue - the first sleeve is fine I think - it's the second issue which is blurry. I assume it was rush released to cash in on the single mixes charting after 92f.

I'm talking about the CD here -I think the 2nd LP is blurry too though. I need to check now. I guess the only good thing about the cash in re-issue was the picture disk, which is boss.

Both my original release and rerelease CDs have the blurry font on the cover (and identical colours too as far as I remember), but the US import CD I have has the font unblurred. I've only got the original version on vinyl and that one's fine.
