Thoughts this morning:
The toll booths on the M4 really need speeding up. It was going to be a push anyway, but a massive tailback meant we missed the start of the set.
Jason's a fucking amazing drummer - thumping beats, which were a massive part of the new sound.
For me things really picked up from the first new tune (first one we saw anyway, there might have been another earlier in the set) - Mary seemed much more relaxed from that point onwards.
The Dos Dedos tracks were the highlight for me, and suited the new band's sounds really well.
Get The Girl and Their Law (this time with minimal additional lyrics) were other highlights.
Odd seeing Graham bouncing off someone other than Clint, but it seemed to get more natural as the gig went on.
Cape Connection sounded a little muddled but it was onward and upwards from there, and I'm sure another rehearsal will sort that out.
No t-shirts. Hopefully there'll be some a Beautiful Days.
Dave seemed really into it. Big smiles.
Encore was the two new tracks again - the second being filmed for a video. Sounded much better the second time through - already getting to like them (though it helps to already be familiar with them from VE).
Can't wait for the next one...
