The first part of Def Con One is mixed into the end of the previous track, so if you just go directly to Def Con One and press play, you'll be missing it.
Yeah, you're right. I went back to the original issue and listened to it, and yes, there's about a half second missing on the remaster. That's a shame.
Now I've only played this on my newish but pants hi fi - it sems ot have some 90's car stereo stofware that inserts a lovely gap between the trackes on 'mixed' c.d's. - ie it does not flow seemlessly. I've played it on another cd player and yes this is wrong - I remember CR saying they were having real trouble with the track transitions on the album. Looks like this is one they didn't solve.
I sort of agree with you...when they said they were having problems with the cd track transitions I couldn't see how as you can put a cd together on your home pc with smooth track transitions - ie if you've doen a mix cd.
Anyhow there must be a lot more to it for making proper CD masters?
