I remember when that same sh!t happened to Skinny Puppy on Jacob's Ladder. They did the score using some of their existing work from the Cleanse Fold and Manipulate sessions and added some other stuff - you could hear their work in the trailers in theaters before the films release and then, by the time it came out... they had been replaced.

Happens all the time, in fact Clint has probably stepped in to other films late in the day to replace composers kicked off projects. He defo did this for Blood: The Last Vampire. A terrible film. His replacement score is one of his best and quite tonally similar to The End of the Affair.
