The Incredible Pwei vs Moral Majority Source

Postby letmein » Tue Feb 16, 2016 9:26 am

Any one know the source of the preacher speech? I've read in the past, the internets thinks its Jimmy Swaggert or Jerry Falwell, but no source found. Any luck by anyone? Honestly, from a speech or 2 from each of them they don't seem to sound quite like the preacher in the song. Does anyone else feel that way or know the actual source? Thanks.

The same speech is used on God Only Knows by James. Dont know if thats a route to finding out.

I don't think even the band rember the source. I would maybe try and shake it out of James. They both used it so it must be from something easy to find? Over the years I've spent hours researching albums and videos to track this down.

Maybe the Poppies sampled it from the James track. Its from the Gold Mother era which was 1990. Whilst i was looking for the Cure for Sanity date i found this

'80s/'90s band Pop Will Eat Itself use a sample of a Jerry Falwell speech in a track, opening their Cure for Sanity album, called "The Incredible PWEI vs. the Moral Majority".

The use of it in God only knows is shorter than Pwei's. So there would seem to be a more original source...

Also since it looks like James used it first and they directly criticize Swaggert it would suggest the speech to be his instead of Falwell of the Moral Majority. But who knows.

They have a listing of all these freakin' sermons on DVD. It would be like a needle in a haystack of shit.

I know the evidence favors Swaggart but the voice just doesn't seem to match up to me..

It's funny, heard Donald Trump on the radio this morning giving a speech about immigration from Mexico, was half expecting the music to kick in...

PIG also used parts of the same speech it in his track 'Satanic Panic', though I suspect he just sampled it from either James or the Poppies.
