The Poppies in Literature

Has anyone read His 'n Hers by Mike Gayle? It's a love story set around Birmingham University in the late 80s, early 90s.

As the title suggests, there is a lot of reference to pop culture of the time.

This place may ring a few bells with people:

And from the same chapter:

Either this is artistic licence on the authors part or a bad memory. I think the former so that the reference fits in with the plot.

Very late reply soz

He wrote a book called "Turning 30" which i think I read when I was just turning 30.

His Brother, i think, is Phil Gayle who did the news on the Big breakfast?? Turning 30 also based around Kings Heath.
