Okay, just to prove I've actually been doing something with all this information, here's the very first draft of the timeline page. At the moment there no design whatsoever, the most basic page styling and the images have just been appropriated from other sources and not scaled appropriately, but this is the general direction I'm thinking of going in.

The code is available at https://github.com/poppiestar/pwei-static-discography as well. I'm currently building it using Jekyll as a static site, I figured it'd be loads quicker to knock something up this way than build anything database-driven just yet. That comes later.

The page is made up of a bunch of events, these can be anything from an album release, a tour, a news piece or something like that. At the moment there's only releases listed, these will make up the bulk of the content so I figure it makes sense to flesh these out first.

What's everyone think? Comments and suggestions are highly sought after, as are offers to help

I haven't had a proper look yet, but looks like a great start!

Axe of Men 2010 was accidentally left off, will fix it later. The others weren't officially released, for the timeline I'm only going for what was actually released (with the exception of Vive Le Vile Evil coz it was accidentally released, so I figure it counts! ) Though I have an idea of how to incorporate them at a later date...

As might be quite noticeable, the image quality of most of the covers is pretty ropey. I'd love to start plugging in some decent quality scans if anyone's feeling helpful?

So you aren't including promo-only releases?

VLVE did get an eventual CD release but got pulled pretty much straight away although some copies trickeled out (I have one)

Good point Though I missed out on one. It was a CDr wasn't it? I wonder if they used the high quality mp3 files to burn it or actually used lossless files, I'd love to get a lossless copy of that album.

Dunno, generally speaking i can't tell the bloody difference!

Have made a few updates to the timeline tonight, added two new types of event:

Tours - pretty self explanatory (one at the very bottom)
Text - a section of text that can go between other events that can be used to give context and any history (one at the very top)

I've also resized the images so the page shouldn't take so long to load. I also started looking into creating an example release page, but that'll have to wait until next time.

As usual, comments and suggestions are welcome.

On a side note, does anyone know who runs popwilleatiself.co.uk?
