pop will eat itself

Due to the addition of a new PWEI vocalist i decided to check the back catalogue of GBOA. As i never really picked up on them years ago i find i have nothing in my collection.

I have been advised to only really pick from the earlier releases - however when i looked to purchase online i found these available but at extortionate prices for CD's (vinyl not so bad - but my record player is at Mothers in a cupboard somewhere). Does anyone know of any cheaper options, apart from checking ebay every day - just in case
Also as the opinion of people here is valued and if i am to pay a high value which CD should i choose - cause i will only buy the one if its going to cost £25.00 upwards? I saw a compilation on Amazon but a review say's only the first 4 tracks are worth being there and the rest are crap, also the cherry red cd is available but that seems to be a collection of demo's, more for the seasoned listener i imagine.

Really hard to get hold of GBOA stuff becuase there's never (to my knowledge) been any reissues. Managed to pick up Pernicious Nonsense on vinyl for 10 squid a couple of years back which is OK but not up to the quality of earlier stuff, but going rate for most of their stuff does seem to be 15 squids upwards

I got a couple of GBOA cds a few months ago for next to nothing on Amazon , one is a compilation/best off and the other is a rareties/b sides compilation "From the Tomb of the Near Legendary "

I love the track Killer Teens In New Orleans and have been playing it alot over the last few months while djing....tune \m/

I read that their first album was entitled 'Drill Your Own Hole' and when you got home and went to play the record it had no hole in the middle. Which meant you had to drill your own hole.

They get ten points from me just for that.

A very kind person from this very forum has offered to copy some cd's for me and post them so i should be listening soon.

Grooved(r?)ivesoapdish (album) was their big hit I thought? The album is badly produced (there's something on the GBOA web site I think??-management issues??). I did get the "best of" GBOA about 2 years ago. I really like pernicious nonsense which is possibly their last album and I'm told might have been renamed to PFX?? It's got tonnes of repo man samples on it and a bit of KLF & NWA (straight outta compton) sample in SOS -my favourite. I reckon I may have stuck that on one of those compilation CDs we did a few years ago.

Everything's groovy and nosedive karma are great songs on groovedivesoapdish.

Everythings groovy -as I said awful sound but great song

Hello All,
New to the forum. Really looking forward to seeing a 'revived' PWEI with Mary from GBOA. Just thought I'd post what I know about the GBOA albums:

Groovedivesoapdish - A compilation of singles
Drill Your Own Hole - 1st album for Virgin
Stewed To The Gills - 2nd Virgin album (and my personal favourite)
Cancer Planet Mission - released on their own 'Naked Brain' label

There were also (as mentioned previously) the P.F.X. album - 'Pernicious Nonsense' and GBOA as the German Thrash Metal outfit 'Rektum', the album was called 'Sakredaunus' and I've always held this as a work of genius.

A band well worth checking out.

As a Leicester lad i find GBOA to be one of a small number of bands we have to be proud of here! (I f**king hate Kasabian!)
