Black Palace

I don't think I've mentioned, my own little label which a friend and I are getting up and running.
It's way leftfield, experimental and pretty weird, but we like it.
A pop music free zone, definitely.
The first physical releases (an LP and a cassette) are imminent.

Anyway, check it out.
No obligations.
But we do register every IP address and hunt them down like animals if they don't come back.

Hi hi hi - a new release out today:

English Bore - Dataphile

http://blackpalace.co.uk/album/kpl6cd-dataphile

Here's the press blurb:

This latest full length offering from Black Palace co-founder English Bore is dedicated to the study and development of the emerging art of ‘data bending', wherein commonplace file formats (in this case .bpm and .psd image files) are manipulated and recoded to provide audio information.

Based around original images supplied by three photographers, ‘Dataphile’ is alive with glitching, hacked ripples, distant clicks and stuttering pulses and drones. Crumbling, distorted motifs give way to frequencies which stretch the limits of human hearing (and the reproductive capabilities of most home listening equipment), whilst the processing involved is limited primarily to the generation of the audio file itself, with post production amounting only to some minor spatialisation adjustments. Thus the listener is left with nine clean, pristine studies in data bending.

Inspired by an invitation to bring these techniques to the opening of an exhibition of the work of JMW Turner at the Turner Contemporary in Margate in early 2012, ‘Dataphile’ is the fifth album offering from English Bore, who’s other work includes live performances based around circuit bent walkmen and cassette loops, noise and drone releases, scores for the screen, video work and finely tuned electronica.

In the words of David Toop ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Toop ) this album is "Exceptional". So that's good.

PS - If you like 'Dataphile', you might well enjoy this: http://blackpalace.co.uk/album/kplcdl1- ... ops-140112
