Neill Blomkamp is confirmed to direct a new Alien film, hope it's a winner.

I saw some concept artwork for that on Facebook a while back, looked interesting. Seemed to bring Hicks back, a sequel to Aliens and ignoring Alien 3 perhaps?

I think the use of HIcks and that was probably just attention grabbing...looking forwards to the mess this is going to end up! Loved D9 - Elysium was pants...Chappie - I hope it's better.

I love how the response to the artowork on the net was mostly 'wow I want to see that' and now it's a goer it's mostly 'this is going to stink'. Hope he get left alone to make something as good as D9 anyhow.

Ok I'm confused now, that io9 story seems to suggest Blomkamp is NOT working on an Alien film, he was just thinking about it, whereas all the other "news" stories seem to suggest it is in progress?

he posted a load of concept art the other week claiming it was 'for fun' and wouldn't do a big studio flick again unless he got left alone...seems to have been a bit of ruse to pitch to FOX who have bitten - today he tweets it is probably his next film...so it worked!

I really hope they don't go the reboot route, I've sworn to never watch another "reboot" just like I did with remakes a few years ago.
