Recommend a film

I dipped my toes into Rollins stuff last year with The Living Dead Girl & Requiem For A Vampire. I enjoyed them both...pretty slow and ramshackle. Dead Girl was quite sad...a reluctant movie monster, an original approach to the genre. Which others would you recommend?

You've nailed the best two apart from Fascination. You could also try La Vampire Nue. I've not seen any of his new stuff.

I hereby recommend Senna The Movie. Obviously if you're an F1 fan its going to be your kind of thing but Mrs Coops watched it with me last night and also enjoyed it. By the end, although she probably wont be watching any races in the future, she understood why Senna meant so much to so many, and she felt their loss too.

I'm not an F1 one fan, I hate sports...however, seconded. I saw this on the big screen last year and it is ace. Really well constructed.

This week go and see The Grey on the big screen. It delivers above and beyond what the trailers promised - a kick ass Liam Neeson smashing wolves in the face / by the numbers survival action flick.

It's actually very sad, moving and bleak stuff. Liam acts his socks off in a role that is a bit too close to home for him. It's scary, tense and emotionally engaging. Really bloody good.

PS - Think I've finally his Jess Franco rock bottom with The Rites OF Frankenstein* Actually it is a Jesus Franco joint - his alter ego - so does that count? Why is the monster silver? Why does that blind girl have birds feet for hands? Just why? really.

*It's not even The Erotic Rites OF Frankenstein - all the rude bits are cut out. However they are included in the bonus scenes in fuzzy betamax vision.

On Friday night I watched Stag Night of the Dead on the horror channel. Spent the whole film telling myself to turn it off. It was an English film but the quality looked like it had been taped off of American TV. Load of guys and the hired stripper (who didn't strip as it was her first stripping gig and she was only doing it because of her uni fees) go to a sinister army camp to play an ultimate paintball type game that is actually tazering zombies.

At the end credits there is a James Bond type "Zomball will return in Hen Night of the Dead"

The Hunger Games was excellent, it is really menacing for a rated 12 film. The books are great too. Next up Cabin the Woods. I know nothing about it apart from it's made by Joss Whedon and that is apparently the best way to see it.

I guess you could track both films back to lord of the flies. I've seen both films and whilst the premise is similar they are both very different. I prefer hunger games. I think katniss is a good character.
