Great press conference although Reni comes across as a bit of a dick. He seemed totally out of place there, a bit like a
lawyer taken out of his office & thrown in to a rock band. He seemed very keen on dissing the other band members also.
What odds would you get on them splitting again before they get to Heaton Park.
Anyway their first album is one of my favourite albums of all time but I think this has bad idea written all over it & could destroy their legacy. They're all very good musicians but the problem is Ian Brown just can't sing. I've seen him live a few times & he sounded like a drunk singing at a party who couldn't hold a tune. Then again every song will be sung by every single member of the audience so loud, you won't hear Brown's voice regardless if he sounds like a drunk at a party or an operatic tenor. I'll probably go see them but I don't think they could every recreate the experience again now and especially in large outdoor venues in front of 60,000 + people.

I wouldn't mind seeing them again, but indoors and close to home. Mind you I've never forgiven Ian Brown for getting sent down instead of doing the tour with Audioweb. By the time he got out Audiowebs drummer had joined Shed 7 and they'd split up. I've still got the tickets I bought for that tour

I've bought tickets, the Roses owe me one after the Reading festival let down all those years ago. I think it'll very much be about the vibe rather than King Monkey's singing voice.

I got tickets also, so we'll be booking a vacation to England next Summer!

I agree it won't really be about Brown's singing but the vibe overall. I hope Squire can still play guitar though!

I got a ticket for the Saturday. No expectations really, I'm going for the drugs. They' band will be patchy, the guitars will be out of tune, and the vocals will be poor, but everything will be covered in paint and sounding like its trying to be the music of heaven, so it'll be fine. A lot of people seem to have forgotten the Roses already completely destroyed their own myth once, and it can only get better after that, I'd have thought.

Apparently the Inspiral Carpets have reformed with their original 'pre-fame' singer. Thats an interesting twist on the whole 'original line-up' thing. I guess the Pistols did it too, but more out of necessity than anything rootsy, really.
